Kitty’s I am Writing Blog:

Some say the greatest joy of writing is that feeling of being in the flow, creating that first draft. Words fly across the page, almost by magic. Characters come to life, dialogue sparkles, telling details come instantly to mind.

And then you’re left with a mess

Thanks to the many teachers, librarians, parents and kids who stopped by the Chesapeake Press booth at the LA Times Festival of Books! It was so great to meet you! I look forward to making lots of author visits!

Kitty LOVES making author visits! On February 22, 2024, Kitty talked about civics and State of the Union, the second book in the Fina Mendoza Mysteries series with 5th, 6th, and 7th graders at Immaculate Heart School in Los Angeles.

The Fina Mendoza Mystery Series

“Our democracy is still very much in danger, and if elections are only considered valid if your side wins, our future is indeed dim. Kitty Felde helps us convey to children that our democracy depends on all sides of an election putting their allegiance to country above party, and her book helps open the door to a discussion about the perilous events on January 6th, how to find common ground, rebuild trust, and reach across the aisle, er, playground.”

— Congressman Adam Schiff
