Civics 101: American democracy for kids and their adults

  • Pico Rivera Library 9001 Mines Avenue Pico Rivera, CA, 90660 United States (map)

2024 is a presidential election year. What do your kids know about who runs the United States?

Award-winning journalist Kitty Felde used to explain government to grownups on public radio. Now she explains it to kids in a series of mystery novels and podcasts set on Capitol Hill: the Fina Mendoza Mysteries. In an interactive program, the former Washington bureau chief for KPCC (LAist) will reveal how Congress works, and how the U.S. Capitol building is haunted by a demon cat. Children will have the opportunity to have their voices heard in Washington, writing to their member of Congress about the issue of their choice. Adults welcome.
